Though today is the 1st time I have tried Pilates, I am truly impressed with it. The simple reason is, my body is aching now. That is so just after an hour of pilates, without even breaking into any sweat. That triggered my interest into finding out more about Pilates. Do try it if you have a chance.
What is Pilates? Joseph Pilates was born in Germany in 1880 and he died in 1967, at the age of 87. He is the creator of the Pilates method which is a specific style of dancing. It is derived from Ballet techniques and is rapidly becoming one of the most highly regarded strengthening techniques in the world. By strengthening and elongating the muscles, Pilates can prevent injury among atheletes, dancers and the general populace, as well as significantly reduce the time it takes for rehabilitation from workplace and exercise injuries.
Pilates believed that imbalances in the body and habitual patterns of movement cause injuries. He observed the links between the weak areas of the body and over-compensation of the body - if you are weak in one area, the rest of the body has to support that imbalance. The excercise he devised were based around the re-education and the re-alignment of the body.
I won't lie. It was tiring. The first night, sleepless. But did I regret bringing Kyle, not one bit. The trip taught us patience, brought our family closer together and we enjoyed each other's company for 5 days, 24 hours a day. Can't wait for our next family trip!!!
We had wanted to do a photo shoot for Kyle when he was one. Decided to wait till he could walk for a wider variety of photos. Thanks Big Mama for your lovely shots of us.
